First introduced in 1973, “the little bag that could” (and did) is a longtime Coach favorite. The Dinky and all of its variously named relations feature the original 1964 turnlock designed by Coach’s first Creative Director, Bonnie Cashin.
This much-adored family of flap bags comprises the official United Airlines Stewardess bag issued in the 1980s, as well as the No. 9170 Pouch—a minimalist shape whose purity of form has inspired countless Coach bags since 1972, including our 2016 Saddle Bag.
First offered in 1974, the Slim Satchel has long been coveted by collectors for its distinctive structured handles and curved binding on the side. In the spirit of the seventies, this early ancestor of future Coach briefcases was designed as a unisex style.
An instant hit beloved by fashion editors since 1971—the same year it appeared in American Vogue—this is quite possibly the most iconic Coach silhouette of all time. Its soft, slouchy shape has made this frequently re-editioned bag an all-time favorite.
